My boyfriend's birthday is on V-day, and his Mother is a florist...so, he never really got to celebrate his birthday when he was a child, as she was way too busy with Valentines Day flower orders to throw a birthday party. Hi, I've posted the qn on the implication of not getting any flowers on Valentine's Day and what shocked me is he can order online CNY hampers for his customers (from noel gifts) but not any flowers for me. I spent 2 evenings till late shopping for his presents and card (and spent quite a sum) but I get cheapskate stationary for my presents. I really don't know what to say. I feel very sad. I got a feeling he's trying to "educate" me in not receiving any flowers on V-Day in the future and I'm not an understanding gf if I ask for them (in that I want him to burn a hole in the pocket) 'coz they are extremely expensive on that day.Hi all, thank you for your replies. I dated my girlfriend for a year and a half. She was 20 and I was 27. Despite our age differences, we were very much in love. About 5 months ago, she wanted to “take a break” because she felt she was to young and she felt she was holding me back. Not being an idiot, I knew “take a break” is girl talk for “I want to meet other guys.” So I told her if that’s what she wants, we’re done. She knew I treated her like a princess and her family told her she was crazy to leave me. She wanted to go out and party but have me on the side (cake and eat it too) She didn’t want to lose me so we didn’t break up. So for the next two months, we had problems and I eventually broke up with her because she was acting like we were “on a break” (for example, giving guys her number, not telling guys she meets that she had a boyfriend and such). We had a bad break-up and she did what all women do, called me a few weeks ago, tells me she thinks about me each day, let’s me know she’s dating someone else (who she met one week after we officially broke-up) and then tells me that she moved on and so should I. Basically, she opened an old wound to watch it bleed although she said she was calling to be nice. I disagreed. Regardless of the post break-up fallout, I did love her very much and I believe she did love me. They only part of our relationship that was bad was her age. I believe if she was older, or I was a younger, we would still be together. And one day in the future, I hope the chance will be there. So my question is, what do you think if I sent her flowers on Valentine’s Day? Nothing else. I haven’t talked to her in a few weeks and I won’t do so on Valentine’s Day either. I know she has a boyfriend, and I know the traditional thought is to ignore her and just move on, but I want to send the flowers to remind her that I do love her despite what happened. Last Thursday I went on a date with a woman I feel strongly for. Things went well and we planned to meet again for dinner. We last had contact on Friday night and she said she would call soon when she could speak. I have not yet heard anything. After consulting with friends and the advice of this board, I decided to be bold and send her flowers for V-Day to her office, which should arrive Wed. morning. Should I give her a ring tonight/tomorrow night (ask about how she is, how her weekend went or even invite her to dinner)? Or, would it be best to wait for the flowers to arrive and see if she calls me? I think this will also help answer how she feels about me.
