Question: #6: Valentine's Day - No flowers for gf but hampers for customers.?
Hi, I've posted the qn on the implication of not getting any flowers on Valentine's Day and what shocked me is he can order online CNY hampers for his customers (from noel gifts) but not any flowers for me. I spent 2 evenings till late shopping for his presents and card (and spent quite a sum) but I get cheapskate stationary for my presents. I really don't know what to say. I feel very sad. I got a feeling he's trying to "educate" me in not receiving any flowers on V-Day in the future and I'm not an understanding gf if I ask for them (in that I want him to burn a hole in the pocket) 'coz they are extremely expensive on that day.Hi all, thank you for your replies. I'm new here and I don't know how to reply to your answer. Guess I will do it here. He doesn't get any other things for me, esp flowers during the rest of the year. He already tell me very clearly he will not give me any flowers on Valentine's Day before the day 'coz he thinks it's not worth spending so much and if I were to want that, I am not understanding towards him. He always says my gifts to him are cheapskate and "no heart" (for eg I gave him gift boxes from robinsons containing wallet/belt) etc where in fact I always try (very hard) to buy the practical things that he want and can use. After every occasion, I spend more than him and upon getting my presents, I'm very upset and also in return, I get comments saying I have no heart and buys cheapskate stuff when in fact, upon comparison, I spend more than him! - asked by Sad Blue Pooh

Question: #16: Should I send my ex-girlfriend flowers for Valentine's Day?
I dated my girlfriend for a year and a half. She was 20 and I was 27. Despite our age differences, we were very much in love. About 5 months ago, she wanted to “take a break” because she felt she was to young and she felt she was holding me back. Not being an idiot, I knew “take a break” is girl talk for “I want to meet other guys.” So I told her if that’s what she wants, we’re done. She knew I treated her like a princess and her family told her she was crazy to leave me. She wanted to go out and party but have me on the side (cake and eat it too) She didn’t want to lose me so we didn’t break up. So for the next two months, we had problems and I eventually broke up with her because she was acting like we were “on a break” (for example, giving guys her number, not telling guys she meets that she had a boyfriend and such). We had a bad break-up and she did what all women do, called me a few weeks ago, tells me she thinks about me each day, let’s me know she’s dating someone else (who she met one week after we officially broke-up) and then tells me that she moved on and so should I. Basically, she opened an old wound to watch it bleed although she said she was calling to be nice. I disagreed. Regardless of the post break-up fallout, I did love her very much and I believe she did love me. They only part of our relationship that was bad was her age. I believe if she was older, or I was a younger, we would still be together. And one day in the future, I hope the chance will be there. So my question is, what do you think if I sent her flowers on Valentine’s Day? Nothing else. I haven’t talked to her in a few weeks and I won’t do so on Valentine’s Day either. I know she has a boyfriend, and I know the traditional thought is to ignore her and just move on, but I want to send the flowers to remind her that I do love her despite what happened. On the otherhand, I don’t want to send them because of her wanting a “break” from me and the fact that she started dating a guy shortly after we officially broke up. Is it a good idea to send the flowers? What would she think? - asked by LTP

Answer: The fact that she called you to first tell you she thinks about you every day and then to tell you she is seeing someone new tells me she is very immature. She did this knowing it would bother you. If ... - answered by: Erin

Question: #20: Should I call her before Valentine's Day (I sent flowers to arrive Wed)?
Last Thursday I went on a date with a woman I feel strongly for. Things went well and we planned to meet again for dinner. We last had contact on Friday night and she said she would call soon when she could speak. I have not yet heard anything. After consulting with friends and the advice of this board, I decided to be bold and send her flowers for V-Day to her office, which should arrive Wed. morning. In the attached card, I wish her happy Valentine's Day and ask if she wants to meet for dinner that night. Should I give her a ring tonight/tomorrow night (ask about how she is, how her weekend went or even invite her to dinner)? Or, would it be best to wait for the flowers to arrive and see if she calls me? I think this will also help answer how she feels about me. I think asking her to dinner ahead of time may put her on the spot, especially if she is already busy. Regardless, if I do not hear by Wed. evening, I plan to call her to wish her Happy Valentine's Day. Any thoughts? - asked by SF Jason
