Question: Quesion about Orchids?

Question : Quesion about Orchids?
i bought an orchid a few months ago, but about a month ago all the flowers fell off it, i still have it now but i wondering if they flower more than once , is there any point in hanging on to it til next flowering, or should i just throw it out and buy a new one?Orchids are my favourite flowers, i think they are so beautiful so i was disappointed about losing its flowers, what should i do with it now?

Most orchids have a foliage growing phase and a leaf growing phase. Your orchid should grow a leaf, then be ready for another flowerIf its a phalaenopsis, it will need cooler night temperatures and the shortening of day length. Try putting it in a location where you get cooler nights (but not too cold!)...Below 65 F should do the trick. Orchids are perhaps the most beautiful house plants one can have, they certainly make a great conversation piece! Have fun and good luck!

Most orchids will keep their blooms for six to eight weeks if the conditions are right and the flowers are not pollinated. Once pollinated (or if the plant thinks it's been pollinated), the plant has no further use for the flower and it will drop off.It will flower again; when depends on the species. It's not unusual for some orchids to flower two times a year if conditions are right. If your orchid is a Phal, and the flower spike is still on the plant and green, try cutting off the spike just below where the lowest flower was. Sometimes this will force another spike and another round of flowers (and sometimes not).Meanwhile keep the plant moist and fed and try to maintain a high humidity around it. Keep it in the bathroom or kitchen if you have a good window.
