Question : do orchids suffer from frost?
my orchids have had buds on them but with the cold spell they have dropped the unopened buds.

Orchids are a semi tropical/tropical plant..they do not like cold..here is an article on them

Orchids do not like the cold, but they do not like the hot hot hot either. They prefer the tropical climates, warm to hot and plenty of moisture and mostly indirect sunlight.A cold spell or even a very hot spell could cause them to loose their buds. A lack of water could also be the cause.

Orchids are very sensitive plants and should be grown in an environment that is as close as possible to where they came from. I highly recommend getting a book on them.
