The florists have a little bag of a powdery substance. Go to the grocery store where they sell flowers and ask for some. works great.

A penny. Don't know why, but it works. Also, cut the stems at an angle. They get more water that way.

It's the bacteria in the water that clogs the uptake of the water. I use a couple drops of bleach in a pint of water, and it does the trick. Also trimming the stems slightly every day helps too.

they make an additive for that ,don't know what it's called but florists use it..you might try coting the stems at a 45 degree angle and trying the aspirin again ,gives them more surface to absorb water

Always fill the vase with warm water (never cold) every three days. I saw this on one of those gardening shows just the other day.

I've heard that one or two pennies will help, but my source for that information also recommends the aspirin trick that didn't work for you. You may want to check with the local florist or greenhouse for recommendations.
